About this datahub
The Chorizo Project Food Loss and Waste (FLW) Datahub and “Insighter” serves as a central platform for storing and sharing a wide range of datasets and insights on food loss and waste (FLW) across the EU. This hub features an evidence-based analysis on both previous and ongoing FLW initiatives across the EU, alongside new research on social norms and behaviours. These insights were gathered from several case studies conducted as part of the CHORIZO project, which examined the actions of consumers, businesses, and charities (e.g. food banks) in relation to FLW. Users can access and download datasets upon registration.
Moreover, these resources have been aggregated and shared as a "Status Report" through platforms like ZENODO (search CHORIZO Project at zenodo.org) and the European Commission Food Loss and Waste Prevention hub.
About the Project
The CHORIZO Project (Changing practices and Habits through Open, Responsible, and Social Innovation towards ZerO food waste) is a European research initiative dedicated to reducing food loss and waste (FLW) across the entire food supply chain. Running from 2022 to 2025, the project seeks to understand social norms and behaviours that contribute to FLW and leverage this knowledge to develop effective, evidence-based solutions. The project employs real-life case studies, data-driven insights, and predictive analysis to inform on practical interventions and policy recommendations aimed at zero FW.
